Future Activities

The two major proposed activities of the AWCSG to be completed by the end of the next quadrennium (end of 2008) have been listed below. These are the suggestions of the coordinators of the three Working Groups. It is hoped that further goals will be proposed and added to these as a result of discussion within the wider group.

Goal 1: Publication of the “IUCN/SSC Asian Wild Cattle and Buffaloes Status Report and Conservation Action Plan”
This document will be a benchmark against which to evaluate conservation and recovery into the future and will provide guidelines for management and the relevance of in situ and ex situ populations.

Goal 2: Update the IUCN Red List entries for all the Asian wild cattle and buffalo species (every April).
